Wuhan City Tour- Day 6

After one whole day of shopping the previous day, we were indeed feeling lethargic. I wanted to sleep in longer but what's the point of being in people's country and not touring around the attractions they offer. So, MDE & LSCT students met at the dormitory's lobby at 7.15 am sharp. Group leaders did a headcount and by 7.30 am, the coach went off to the very first attraction of the day.

First Tourist Attraction: East Lake

Front Gate of East Lake

East Lake, the biggest scenery tourist attraction in Wuhan and also the largest lake within a city in China, is located on the south bank of the Yangtze River. It covers an area of 87 square km and 5 times larger than the West Lake of Wuhan.

It took us almost an hour to reach to our destination. There were many activities sited for tourists and local.  The atmosphere was somehow similar to our Chinese Garden. It's only that East Lake is way bigger and have more facilities. The fresh air was cooling and we spent almost 30 mins walking around the park taking tons of pictures.

Repitition, cool aren't they?

See those people swimming?

Shades vs No Shades. Flying Eagle won.

After that, we hopped into the bus to go to our next destination.

Second Tourist Attraction: Hubei Museum

Hubei Provincial Museum, located in the Wuchang District of Wuhan, Hubei Province, is the only provincial comprehensive museum in the province. Since 1953, the museum has collected over 200,000 of cultural relics which comprises of pottery, porcelains, jades, weapons and musical instruments and many more.

The builidings of Hubei Museum

I thought it would take us an hour to reach to the Hubei Museum. I was wrong! Within 10 mins, we reached. I was told not to bring any water bottles with me as they would be spot check at the entrance. I'm still pretty unsure why we could not bring any water bottle along. Pass through the security check and when i saw the structural building of the Hubei Provincial Museum, my jaw dropped. Magnificent!

The belles. Spot Zhen Zhao if you can.
The Hunks. Missing anyone?
Wait, where's Momo? What's Yu Haw doing??
The place was relatively quite big and the scenic view was attractive. Went in to the museum and waited for the tour guide further instructions. Meanwhile, knowing us, taking lots of pictures is our forte. haha! The tour guide then gave us a MP3 player so that we can listen from it.

Without any hesitation, we were brought to the exhibition hall where many artefacts were found. I could see various artefacts such as the coffin used during ancient days. The tiny designs on the artefacts were indeed impressive. The most famous relic was the Chime Bells. Impressive! Look at this!
Wondrous right?

Spot the mistake game!

All the single ladies, put your hands up! Yu haw, err ladies?

This is their Fire Extinguisher in a box

Besides that, some artefacts that includes pottery, porcelains, jades and more were found. Long ancient weapons were found too. Wonder how did they do it! :/

We were given free time to roam around the museum and I went to the rooftop to see the magnificent view. And of course, taking pictures were vital! haha!

After which, we proceed to have our lunch in one of the restaurant. I was separated from my chinese friends as the dishes on my table was specially cook without any pork content. The food was not that bad. I like it! :) We have to go straight after lunch as we were in rush.

Third Tourist Attraction: Yellow Crane Tower

Yellow Crane Tower is located on Snake Hill in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Enjoying the fame of 'The First Scenery under Heaven', it is one of the most renowned towers south of the Yangtze River. Its cultural significance led to its being made the symbol of Wuhan City. It has a long and compliacated history.

The tiles on the ceiling were designed in a repitition order. The structural building made was inspring. Once again, the inner structure reminded me of Chinese Garden in Singapore.

The wall of the yellow crane tower was widely painted of pictures that depicts clouds, rivers and and cranes. Diyanah and I pushed ourselves to the 2nd highest level of the tower. The view from the top was extravagant! Not to mention, with the extreme hot weather, we deserved a pat on our shoulder for climbing all the way to the 2nd highest level. :)

At the top! Me, Brenda, Joanna & Diyanah
All of us took a group photo right outside the Yellow Crane Tower! NICE! Browsed through the items they offered in various shops and the harajuku dolls caught my eyes.

With Mr Richard Chia! :)

Fourth Tourist Attraction: Jianghan Road Shopping Mall

We were given an hour to shop around. Remember I mentioned that we went to have our first shopping spree the previous week in the earlier post? Yes, we went to same mall again. So my friends and I (Diyanah, Jiali, Yu Haw & Houng Sheng) went over to Starbucks Coffee to chill and have our drinks. It was an extremely a hot day and we were in need to quench our thirst so Starbucks was what we needed most! hahaha!

We did not bother to shop as the given time was only an hour. Not even enough to cover the entire first floor of the shopping mall. P/s: You would not want to know how girls shop!

Reached our campus before 7pm and some of them quickly changed and headed down to have their dinner. My room-mates and I were too lethargic to even eat our dinner so we stay put in our dorm. One by one had a cold shower and here we go, BLOGGING AND UPLOADING PICTURES! goodnight my hommies! :)

Reflection: It was a memorable experience indeed! I love the Wuhan City Tour as we combed various tourist attractions such as the Famous East Lake and Yellow Crane Tower. As for the Hubei Provincial Museum, what fascinated me most was the Chime bells. With the set of bells of different sizes, various tones in the musical scale were played. There were around 3000 ancient chinese characters inscribed on the bells, describing the music.

Not only that, as what i heard from the local students, some of them have not get the opportunity to experience the Yellow Crane Tower as the entrance fee is quite expensive. Unable to experience their own famous attraction is quite saddening.

At East Lake, I realised that many of them swim in the river while some of them spent their time fishing. Back in Singapore, we could not swim in the river as it's dangerous. And if im not mistaken, if you want to swim or fish, you have to pay before using the facilities of East Lake. Quite funny though that they have to pay to swim in the river.

In conclusion, the Wuhan City tour was a memorable one. No regrets of waking up early and experiencing their famous tourist attractions. Whoever interested in coming to Wuhan, Hubei China, the best time to come is in September where the weather is pretty okay. Not pretty cold, not pretty hot. But we went on the wrong week as it was still in Summer.
