Anatomy in WUST different campus- Day 7

A week has gone and I'm left with four more weeks in Wuhan. Feeling homesick? hmm.. Sort of but not too extreme, yet! :/

OIE module started at 8.30am instead of the usual timing; 9am. This was due to the interaction with local students at WUST different campus. Our sleep were shortened but nevertheless, my roommates and I managed to reach class on time.

Topic for today: Chinese Politics!

In the OIE class, I was introduced to various components in chinese politics that includes:-

  • Introduction of chinese politics

  • Chinese Communist Party

  • Chinese Government

  • People Liberation Army

  • Legal System of China

  • Nationality
Since the previous day was occupied with Wuhan City Tour, some of my friends were still quite shagged from the trip.
See what I meant when they were too shagged? haha!

The class ended a bit earlier than usual because we have interaction with local students at another WUST campus. Went for early lunch and packed the foods back home. MDE and LSCT students met at 12.45pm to proceed to another WUST campus which was quite a distant from here.

Salad, my take-away lunch!

Dee's beef potato with ramen!
We toured around the new campus of WUST in the bus and we were brought to the medical faculty.
Similar to NP convention centre? Yes, right!
The student's dormitory. Heaven!
Boys having basketball training!
We were greeted with open arms! Sweet!
5th batch of OIP- MDE & LSCT

I was quite prepared when i saw the anatomies of humans and animals as i went to the bodyworks in Singapore before. My friends and I went around the room to see different parts of human's organs and animals. Some of my friends could not take it that they gave up halfway. I managed to cover everything that was inside the room.

Around 20 mins later, we were separated from the LSCT students. We took a bus to another faculty which was the business faculty (if I'm not wrong). That's where we met up with the local students. We were greeted warmly when we entered the room. They applauded loudly when we entered the room. They gave a brief introduction of their country and the school. I was flattered when I saw that their presentation was in English. Not to mention, the speaker presented in English as well. We did an exchange cultural presentation whereby it was our turn to give an overview of what Singapore was all about. And our presentation was in Chinese. They were contented when the presentation was in Chinese.

Apart from that, I'm surprised that one of the local student sang an English song and we did sang a chinese song for them. We were given mooncake to commemorate the Merry Mid Autumn Festival which falls on 22nd September 2010. Took a group photos with the local students for the last time.
He sung an English song!
Moon cake festival! :)

Sweet! Our turn to sing for them

While we were on our way to their school library, I was shocked to see military activities for both females and males. Imagine having compulsory military trainings for the freshmen in University in Singapore?
P/S: The military trainings were compulsory for the freshmen.

Compulsory for Year 1 uni students
Toured around the WUST library and went to their school canteen to have an early dinner. There was a Muslim Food Stall in the new campus and the foods were quite nice.

Told you, the whole structure is wide!

Took a coach back home at around 6pm and we were "greeted" with traffic congestion on the road.

Reached dormitory by 9.30pm, and we did some preparation for Diyanah's bdae. Her 18th birthday! :) Some of us went to the nearest bakery store to buy a cake for her. It was a surprise birthday and we acted like as if nothing happened on that day.

She was surprised when Mr Chia was holding a cake when she opened the room's door. Everyone started singing birthday song and she was so surprised and stunned for a moment. Our plan- Succeeded! :)

Reflection: During the OIE module, I have learnt various important points. One of the point was that in China, they acknowledged Premier instead of President. I have realised that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) had 13 members at first, and now, 66 million members involved.

When I visited the WUST new campus, i was inspired with awe. The new campus was equipped with new facilities and the area was much bigger than any Polytechnics in Singapore. And that could be the vast land they have. WUST is actually the top 100 university in China among 700 universities. How cool can that be?

The speaker tried presenting in English during the interaction time. Even though their main language is in Chinese, they work very hard to learn English language.
A wise man quote,"Education is a progressive discovery of our own ignorance." by Will Durant.

I'm greatly impressed that they took the initiative to present in English as well as sung an English song. I love cultural exchange as it foster bond between both parties. Both countries could share the differences of cultures and customs respectively and in one way or another, understand both sides well. Racial Harmony is significant in every part of the world.

When i saw the specimens of human bodies and animals locked in a transparent container, I felt sorrow. In my opinion, they deceased deserved a moderate farewell whereby the spirits would not wander off. But as time goes by, many human bodies and animals are being dissected for further experiments.
