Delicious Local Snack- Day 22

Had our last calculation topic for Project Management: PERT. Applaude!  After this, there will be no more of calculation assignments and bringing of calculator to class! After which, Diyanah and I headed down to the Muslim stall again for our lunch to attempt other dishes. Chose the less carbohydrate dish which was the Tang Hun Soup and it was indeed mouth-watering.
While on the way back to our hostel, I saw an old man selling fresh raw corn that cost RMB 3. I’ve seen that many people patronized his stall and the Chinese loved eating the snacks. Without any hesitation, I bought one packet and I don’t regret buying their local snack. It was crunchy yet healthy as no sugar was added. Only raw corn freshly made from the machine!
We went back to our hostel to respite while waiting for the rest our friends before proceeding to the foyer to take a group photo of 5th batch OIP 2010. Asked Eddy from LSCT to be of assistance in taking photos for our MDE 5th Batch OIP 2010.
Followed by taking group photos at the foyer which was very near to our study block, all of us proceeded to level 6 of the study block to continue with our PERT lesson.

Personal Reflection: I told myself that I want to try all the local dishes that can be found in Wuhan. And I found one local snack which I doubt I can find in Singapore. It was indeed healthy yet crunchy. The Muslim foods were pretty luscious as well where I could not stop eating their cold vegetables. As for my friend, Diyanah, she could not stop eating potato every single day.
I don’t regret trying new foods that cannot be found in Singapore. It will be such a waste if I did not try any local dish.  RMB 3 for the local snacks could be a satisfactory price for the locals but for us, it’s inexpensive and when converted back to Singapore dollar, one big packet cost $0.60. You can never get that in Singapore! Having a strong Singapore dollar is one advantage!
But I hoped that I would not be down with stomach upset or diarrhoea after trying the local dishes. The streets foods could be not as clean as the foods served in the restaurants and ultimately, we should avoid it if our stomach is sensitive.
The locals could consume any kinds of foods as they were trained ever since they were young. As for as, outsiders, we were brought up in a different way where our water is very clean and can be drunk straight from the tap. And the tap water can be used in many ways such as washing of vegetables, watering the plants and etc. As for China, we ought to avoid drinking the water from the tap or washing the vegetables. They have to boil the water first before drinking the water as the tap water contains many bad bacteria which is harmful to one stomach.
Teachers tried to avoid students from eating or trying the streets foods as some of our stomach could not take it as we are unsure what ingredients they put to cook the food and the most crucial thing is how they prepare the food. If our stomach can take it, why not, we can give it a try!
Cleanliness is one of the significant aspect in food and beverage. Purposes of cleanliness include health, beauty, absence of offensive odor, avoidance of shame, and to avoid the spreading of dirt and contaminants to oneself and others. Cleanliness impacts every phase of social interaction, generating potentially profound health-related risks and illnesses.
